Updates:

New national lure coursing organization? A new list has been established for discussion of ideas about a new national lure coursing organization, the working title of which is The National Lure Coursing Club. The list is open to all those with a genuine interest in such an organization and who will support its efforts when it is up and running. For more information, or to sign up and participate in the discussion, go to the list's Yahoo Groups site.

The Region 1 website is a volunteer effort, designed and maintained by Beth Levine. I have been active in sighthounds (first Greyhounds, and now Whippets under the prefix Serendipity) since 1993, and have been actively involved in performance events as an exhibitor, field committee member, board member and delegate of several Region 1 clubs, and now as a provisional ASFA judge working towards my regular license.

The Region 1 website was launched in early 2003 as a joint effort between Judy Lange, at the time the newly elected Region 1 director, and myself, to promote better communication between the Region 1 clubs and provide a centralized clearinghouse for electronic premium lists for local trials.

The Region 1 website quickly grew to include information about all sighthound performance events in the region, including racing, AKC and CKC lure coursing, and now even includes sighthound specialty shows as well. The cornerstone of the website is the comprehensive events calendar.

Since its inception, the Region 1 website has evolved into an important and heavily used resource for the Pacific Northwest sighthound fancy. I am pleased that my fellow sighthound performance enthusiasts find it a useful resource and welcome your feedback and comments. I enjoy working with the local event planners and secretaries to provide the most accurate and easily accessible information possible about local events, so please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Tally-ho!
